Wheelchair access to Saab aircraft

Air Chathams Saab 340 aircraft

The Air Chathams Saab 340 aircraft (pictured with queues waiting to check out the 34-seater at Kapiti Coast Airport’s open day) is well sorted for impaired users: An access ramp is available for the aircraft’s aisle wheelchair.  Folding, rigid and powerchairs can be carried in the hold.  With small mobility scooters powered by lithium-ion batteries, the batteries are removed from the scooters for transport.  The Saab 340 has an onboard toilet and is scheduled for 36 flights a week between Kapiti and Auckland.
